Leadership Team

The AWM team is comprised of experienced professionals that are passionate about driving the adoption of solar energy. Prior to founding the company, our executives led the way in clean energy technology development, deployment, and commercialization, setting the standard for BOS componentry, and tracker wire management at utility-scale.

Scott Rand, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder

Scott Rand is chief executive officer and a founding member of Affordable Wire Management. Experienced in technology commercialization, financial management, and market-share expansion, Scott is an accomplished clean energy leader. He possesses deep domain expertise in the deployment of multi-gigawatt, utility-scale solar both domestically and abroad. Today, he brings his successful track record in building high-growth clean energy companies to his role at AWM. As CEO, he is focused on the company’s growth strategy, ensuring strong financial performance, and realizing the company’s mission to deliver value, innovation and engineering excellence to EPCs nationwide. Prior to co-founding AWM, he served in leadership and product commercialization roles at Merit SI, Merit Controls, and First Solar.

Dan Smith, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder

Dan Smith, AWM’s Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder, is an accomplished engineer with a track record of developing cost-effective, high-volume-efficient designs that meet project and product specifications, with over 3 million components installed worldwide. As AWM’s CTO, he is focused on safety-first product innovation and building an engineering team devoted to technical excellence and big thinking. He is tasked with developing the company’s technology roadmap as well as the rigorous certification and quality assurance protocols that AWM customers have come to rely on. He has contributed to a variety of industry standards, and currently serves on the Canadian Electrical Code Committee. Prior to co-founding AWM, he held a variety of technology development positions at Array Technologies and First Solar.

Peter Hruby, Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, Peter Hruby uses his expertise in all phases of product design and development to drive AWM’s project execution and customer experience, as well as manage resource planning and relationships with suppliers. He is the steward and champion of AWM’s holistic approach to product development and deployment. Peter is passionate about ensuring the customer experience is consistently excellent, and that AWM continues to deliver safe, reliable solutions that are unmatched in terms of longevity, durability and value. A mechanical engineer by training, Peter has held a variety of engineering and product development roles at First Solar and Kinematics.

Linda Merritt, Head of Quality

Linda Merritt brings over twenty years of experience in quality program management, project management, and solar construction to the AWM leadership team. She is a certified Lead Auditor for several standards and has earned certifications from the Project Management Institute. As Head of Quality, Merritt plays a key role in elevating AWM’s growing reputation as a leading cable management systems (CMS) provider. With an unrelenting focus on supplier, project, and internal quality protocols, Merritt ensures that AWM continues to deliver best-in-class CMS, as well as the unparalleled customer experience the company is known for. Prior to joining AWM, Merritt served in several pivotal roles in the renewables industry: Director of Projects at PI Berlin, Director of Quality at Signal Energy, Solar Quality Manager at McCarthy Building Companies, and Construction Systems Manager at First Solar.
